Every lead gets a 0-100 score built from three factors: how much of the job is likely your trade's piece of the work (value), how time-sensitive it is to act (urgency), and how directly relevant the permit type is to your trade (fit) — fit counts double, because an irrelevant lead wastes your time no matter how big or fresh it is.
The score comes from a fixed formula PermitAxis applies the same way to every permit — not an AI guessing a number per lead. The same permit scores the same way every time.
When you sign up, you pick a coverage radius — 15, 30, or 60 miles depending on plan — from your base city. We don't slice individual addresses out of a city: if any part of a city falls within range, you get that city's entire permit feed. (Unincorporated county areas are the exception — those are too big to hand over whole, so you get the permits located inside your radius.)
Contractors work in drive time, not city limits, and a subscriber picking a city at signup (not a street address) can't honestly promise anything more precise than that. Bigger radius means more cities in range, which means more leads.
Every permit comes straight from the public open-data systems that cities and counties in our coverage area already publish. Contractor names and phone numbers come from Washington's public contractor licensing database (WA L&I).
We don't have a private data source — it's the same public record anyone could look up themselves, just pulled, filtered, and delivered to you automatically every week.
As accurate as the public records it comes from — which is usually very, but not always. Cities occasionally file a permit late, mislabel a project type, or leave the valuation field blank, and a listed contractor phone number can be out of date.
Treat every report as a strong starting point, not a guarantee. Especially before a call that matters, a quick double-check is worth it.
Twenty-three Washington cities: Seattle, Bellingham, Everett, Tacoma, Renton, Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, Kenmore, Edmonds, Sammamish, Issaquah, Snoqualmie, Mercer Island, Marysville, Arlington, Kent, Auburn, Federal Way, Burien, SeaTac, Maple Valley and Edgewood — plus the unincorporated parts of King, Pierce and Kitsap counties, from Fall City and Cottage Lake to Spanaway, Graham, Silverdale and Kingston. New areas are added most months.
Cities and unincorporated areas work slightly differently. For a city, if your radius reaches any part of it you get its whole permit feed. For an unincorporated area we place every permit on the map and send you the ones inside your radius — a county is too big to do it any other way.
You can base yourself anywhere in Western Washington, including somewhere we don't cover yet. Pick your city and plan on the pricing map and it tells you exactly what falls in range for you — including if the answer today is nothing.
A few cities publish only part of their permits. Kent, Marysville, Maple Valley and Arlington share only their larger development projects, and Redmond only its major permits (new homes, commercial, multifamily and site work) — so expect fewer but bigger leads from those. Marysville, Maple Valley and Arlington don't date their project lists at all, so we treat a project as new the week it first appears on the city's list.
Coverage radius, and that's it. Solo ($79/mo) is 15 miles, Pro ($129/mo) is 30, Business ($249/mo) is 60. Business also gets a direct line to the founder.
Everything else is identical on every plan: the weekly report, contact phone numbers, links to the official permit record, lead scoring, as many trades as you run, and the minimum-project-value filter.
How much that radius buys you depends entirely on where you're based, so the pricing map shows you your own numbers before you pick. From Seattle, Pro already reaches everything except the far north (Arlington and Bellingham), so Business adds little there today. From Tacoma, Everett or Skagit County the difference between plans is real — Mount Vernon goes from 4 covered cities on Pro to 13 on Business.

No. We don't sell subscriber data to anyone. The only outside parties that ever touch your information are the service providers that keep PermitAxis running — the spreadsheet and script host where your account details live (Google), our database host (Supabase), our email provider (Resend), the AI that writes your report summaries (Anthropic), and our payment processor (Stripe) — and none of them get to use it for anything but running the service. We reach out to contractors who might want this service using public sources — mainly Washington's contractor licensing records, and occasionally a business's own public social media posts.
